Updated January 18, 2013  CCC Career College is operated by Career College Consultants, Inc. with campuses in Eagle Rock and downtown Los Angeles.  CCC Career College has programs in Computer Graphics and Web Design and Computer Office Management and Computer Repair and Networking.  But it is perhaps best known for its allied health programs including Medical Billing and Coding which has been approved by AHIMA -- the American Health Information Management Association.  There are also programs for Pharmacy Technician, Medical Assistant and Nursing Assistant.

The main campus is at 5015 Eagle Rock Boulevard, Suite 302 in Los Angeles.  There is a classroom extension at 3325 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 200 in downtown Los Angeles.  Financial aid is available for those who qualify and there are convenient class schedules in the day, evening and weekends to make it convenient for students to complete their studies.  There is also an active job placement program.

Update August 29, 2012  The International Academy of Film and Television is new to Southern California but not to the rest of the country and the world.  It has been operating for many years and just now started a Burbank location.  The other locations include Miami, Hong Kong, and Cebu in the Philippines.  It has been recognized in the media industry press as one of the best schools for film and video production.  Classes are small and this affords students more individualized attention and more hands-on opportunity to work with camera equipment, computerized editng and more participation in classes and projects including writing, editing, directing and video production.  There are short term classes and longer term classes for film and video production, writing and acting.  Our Best Buys TV Show report is below with more information about their small and affordable classes taught by industry professionals.

Update November 27, 2011  The College for Appraisers has classes and seminars at King Richard's Antique Center in Whittier, and on our visit to the antique mall we visited The College for Appraisers and were surprised to discover that this is a vital career offering good income in a relatively short period of time.  There is a strong need for appraisers in the legal industry, as well as from individuals with collectibles that they want to insure or make arrangements to donate or gift.  Lawyers will often consult with appraisers when preparing estates or wills.  The College for Appraisers offers classes in antiques including art glass, pottery, jewelry, metals, primitive arts and Orientals.  There are also classes in gemology and fine arts and automobile appraising.  Classes are taught at the King Richard's Antique Center and there is a distance learning program.  Some appraisers can earn $60,000 or more in their first year following about 7 months of study.  As appraisers build on their reputation and client-base, income can exceed $100,000 in a year.  It is a career that also offers part-time work. There is an AAS Degree Program as well as various certificate programs.

Update December 2, 2010   The Marinello Schools of Beauty are in California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona and they offer programs in cosmetology, manicuring, and esthetics which is skin care.  This can be a rewarding career because there are jobs not only in private salons, but also at spas and resorts and hotels and on cruise ships, and in the movie industry.  Graduates can start their own businesses or work full time or part time.  Classes can be taken on a full time or part time schedule and there is a varied schedule that can fit a work schedule or a schedule if you have children or other obligations.

Depending on your program of study, you can receive a certification in a specialized program in less than a year.  There are part time and full time classes, days and nights.
