A watch is
an essential item and a watch or clock can also make a great gift for a birthday or holiday or for graduations, mothers day
or fathers day. Here we will tell you about quality sellers of fine watches and about the deals they have to offer.
Update September 10, 2013 Below, on this page, we have several reports about The Valencia Time Center.
The Valencia Time Center no longer operates a store in Santa Ana but the Valencia store in the City of Santa Clarita in northern
L.A. County continues offering the quality watches and services featured in our TV reports.
TIPS ABOUT BUYING A WATCH
Update April 3, 2013 You have to be very careful about buying a high-end and even brand name watch.
High end watches are often counterfeited so be careful who the seller is. When I buy a high end watch I either buy direct
from the manufacturer at an outlet or company store, or from a major retailer. I would never even consider buying a
watch froma door-to-door seller, street seller, and I am sorry to say I wouldn't trust anyone selling watches at a flea market
either. If something should go wrong with the watch, I want to be able to go back to the seller immediately.
In fact the first Rolex watch I bought about five years ago was running fast. I bought it from
one of the biggest watch specialty stores in the country and with no questions asked they made an immediate exchange.
That company was Tourneau at the Century City mall here in Los Angeles. They earned my trust.
I would be very careful about buying watches from an online seller even though there are quality online sellers.
When it comes to very expensive watches, you might want to consider buying a pre-owned watch. There is a brisk market
for pre-owned Rolex watches, for example and many retailers do have an inventory of pre-owned watches that were traded-in
for new watches. Ask about these when you go into a store. The Tourneau store in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace
in Las Vegas has a large inventory of quality, pre-owned watches that can be a great value.
If you buy a watch and have the bracelet sized, be sure you keep any links that were removed in case you later sell
the watch, or you need to expand the bracelet size. Keep the warranty papers even after the warranty expires.
Keep the original box that the watch comes in because in the case of certain watches such as Rolex, the box itself has a value
in the resale market.
I know that many people who give watches as gifts like the
idea of having a greeting or dedication of some sort engraved on the back of the watch. And while that does create a
nice gift it can hurt the resale value of a watch. The next owner might not want an inscription that
reads "to my son the doctor" or "for your Bar Mitzvah." On the other hand, it
you wanted to impress someone you might want a watch with an inscription that says "congratulations Mr. Chairman."
If your watch is not battery powered, make the modest investment in an automatic watch winder which
not only will keep your watch running, but it will save you from having to reset the time and wind the watch too many times
which could cause excessive wear or even damage. When you go to buy your watch, I just hope you don't have
a shopping experience like the one Jack Benny had in the classic TV show episode below.
