We'd like to think that the medical system including the care we get from doctors and hospitals is flawless. But in a report in 1999 it was revealed that up to 98,000 people a year die because of mistakes in hospitals. While this figure is disputed there are many who believe it is true and use it as a warning. There were more reports including a federal report in 2010 that said bad hospital care contributed to the deaths of 180,000 patients in Medicare alone in a year. When you look at the various statistics it appears that heart disease is the leading cause of death in America, followed by cancer, and medical errors ranks as the third leading cause of death. If you fear you are the victim of medical malpractice you should consult with an attorney and you should do it quickly because there are strict time limits on when medical malpractice cases can be filed.

Update March 14, 2015  Trial attorney Bradley Kramer offers his medical malpractice clients experience both as an attorney and as a medical doctor. He told me how important it is that if someone believes they are a victim of malpractice including errors by doctors and hospitals and pharmacists and other medical providers that they immediately contact an attorney. In California, he said, there are strict time limits on when a malpractice lawsuit can be filed and generally it's a limit of one year from the time of discovery or death. Physician/Attorney Bradley Kramer told me that many times the wrong medicine is the cause of problems. If someone calls him suspecting a problem he will advise them to obtain a copy of their medical records immediately so that he can examine those records as part of a free consultation. Bradley Kramer takes cases on a contingency fee basis meaning that clients do not pay any fees up front and fees are paid once money is received.
